SLI (Starting, Lighting, Ignition)

Automotive batteries are SLI batteries, using six series-connected cells to provide a nominal 12-volt system in most passenger vehicles and light trucks. They are a standard wet-flooded battery.

EFB (Enhanced Flooded Batteries)

It is an enhanced version of standard wet-flooded technology. These types of batteries should not be confused with standard flooded or AGM batteries. The primary benefits of EFB technology are improved charge acceptance and greater cyclic durability when operating in a reduced state of charge (typical of Stop Start applications). As an approximation, EFB batteries will provide 85,000 engine starts, compared to 30,000 starts from standard flooded product.

AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat)

Absorbent Glass Mat batteries are advanced maintenance-free lead-acid batteries designed to resist spilling acid and reduce water loss during usage. In the world of car batteries, the term “AGM battery” has been gaining prominence. Replacing your battery with an AGM battery might seem like a good idea, although the cost is greater by approximately two times. You can expect to pay around $255 to $360 for an AGM battery.

AGM batteries offer several compelling advantages over traditional lead-acid batteries:

• Maintenance-Free: One of the most significant benefits of AGM batteries is that they are maintenance-free. They don’t require regular topping up of electrolyte, making them hassle-free to maintain.
• Deep Cycle Capabilities: AGM batteries are well-suited for deep cycle applications, such as powering RVs, boats, and off-grid systems. They can handle frequent deep discharges without suffering from the “memory effect.”
• Quick Charging: AGM batteries have a high charge acceptance rate, allowing them to recharge rapidly. This is especially advantageous in applications where quick power recovery is essential, such as in auto start-stop applications.
• Leak-Proof Design: The sealed design of AGM batteries prevents acid leakage, making them safer to handle and suitable for confined spaces.
• Vibration Resistance: AGM batteries are highly resistant to vibration and shock, making them ideal for use in vehicles where constant motion is a factor, like in off-roading.
